Houston Firefighter Reprimanded in Winter Storm Deaths

March 5, 2022
A mother and daughter died from carbon monoxide when firefighters did not enter and check a home after a 9-1-1 call for help.

An investigation into the death of a Houston woman and child during the 2021 winter storm has resulted in a firefighter receiving a reprimand.

Firefighters were initially sent to the home in February 2021 to check on the family after a concerned family member called for assistance.

A fire crew checked the home but did not enter, according to Click2Houston.com.

Hours later, a family member called back, again asking for assistance and a fire crew returned to the scene.

According to the new report, two parents and two children were exposed to carbon monoxide for three hours between the calls.

The mother and a daughter died.
