Trump Demands Death Penalty for Anyone Killing a Firefighter

Durning the Rose Garden event, National Volunteer Fire Council Chairman Steve Hirsch presented a helmet to Trump.

President Trump said he wants anyone killing a firefighter to get the death penalty.

He made the announcement Thursday while hosting a Rose Garden luncheon honoring firefighters and law enforcement officers.

Trump said he aimed to stop firefighters from being shot at while climbing ladders to fight fires in “rough neighborhoods,” USA Today reported.

“They’re shot at going up ladders. They get shot up in some neighborhoods. You ought to blow up the damn place.”

Presenting Trump with a white helmet, National Volunteer Fire Council Chairman Steve Hirsch explained the vital role of 750,000 volunteer  firefighters and EMS personnel across the country.

“These are the people who respond from their homes at night, and from their businesses during the day to protect their neighbors..."

Holding a helmet, Hirsch said it protects responders at a fire and wrecks.

Presenting it to the president, he added: "We want God to wrap his protective arm around you.

Grinning while accepting it, Trump said: “I could have used this in Butler. This would have been very helpful. I wish you would have given it to me earlier."
