Haralson County firefighter Justin Robinson, 50, went into cardiac arrest while responding to a July 14 motor vehicle accident, and he passed away at the hospital Tuesday.

A Georgia firefighter died a week after suffering a heart attack during a call, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

Haralson County firefighter Justin Robinson, 50, was part of the response to a July 14 accident along Highway 27 in Buchanan, the department stated in an online update. While at the scene, he went into cardiac arrest, and crews immediately began life-saving measures.

Robinson was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and he died Tuesday, according to the department.

"His legacy of public service continues, sustaining life for others as an organ donor," the department said in a statement.

Along with being a member of the Haralson County Fire Department, Robinson also served with the Fulton County Fire Department for 23 years, according to an online post by the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a Georgia Search and Rescues Specialist (GSAR), teaching other firefighters how to handle technical rescues
