A veteran firefighter/EMT in western Maryland died last week from complications related to COVID-19.
The U.S. Fire Administration on Tuesday announced the line-of-duty death of Cumberland Fire Department firefighter/EMT Kelly William Frye, 53, who was a 25-year veteran of the fire service.
According to USFA, Frye contracted the deadly virus in late August while on numerous medical runs involving COVID-positive patients.
A post on the Cumberland Fire Department's Facebook page says that Frye began his career with the Shaft Volunteer Fire Department before he started serving the city of Cumberland in 1996.
He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, a son and daughter, and a stepson.
