TX Chief Dies after Falling Ill on EMS Call

Alpine Fire Chief and EMS Director Michael Scudder passed away from a cardiac event after responding to a Dec. 5 EMS call.

Alpine Fire Chief and EMS Director Michael Scudder passed away after suffering cardiac event following a Dec. 5 emergency call.

According to NewsWest9, Scudder was assisting a patient at a medical call and began having chest pain and shortness of breath. He continued to provide care and assisted with transporting the patient.

When fellow EMTs returned to the ambulance they found Scudder in cardiac arrest.

EMS personnel and hospital staff worked to revive him but were unsuccessful.

A funeral service will be held Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department Station.
