PA Chief Dies after Fire Call

Mount Pleasant Fire Chief Gerald "Jerry" Lucia died unexpectantly on Dec. 17 following a fire call the evening before.

The fire chief of the Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department died Friday after responded to a call.

Fire Chief Jerry Lucia had responded to a fire call Thursday night. The following day he passed away.

Lucia has been with the Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department for 46 years and he served the last 31 years as fire chief, according to TribLive.com.

In a Facebook post Mount Pleasant department members said, “Chief we thank you for your dedication and commitment to our department, Rest In Peace Chief, we’ll take it from here.”

As a show of respect multiple departments from across the region were present to accompany Lucia’s body to the Westmoreland County Coroner.
