MS Chief Dies from COVID-19

Lowndes County District 3 VFD Fire Chief Wayne Doyle succumbed to COVID-19 after contracting it on-duty.

Lowndes County District 3 firefighters are mourning the loss of Chief Wayne Doyle, who died after contracting COVID-19 while on-duty.

Doyle, 62, responded to numerous EMS calls where he was exposed to COVID-19. He subsequently contracted the virus and passed away on Feb. 7, the U.S. Fire Administration said in a press release.

Doyle had served as a volunteer firefighter for 40 years and owned a local construction company.

“Wayne was passionate about training and helping firefighters grow their skills.  He has left a lasting impression on our department and community. His legacy will not be forgotten, our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Janice, his son Kevin, and the whole family,” Lowndes County District 3 Volunteer Fire Department posted on their Facebook page.
