A firefighter succumbed to injuries sustained at a Plainville house fire Sunday morning.
According to NBC Connecticut, fire crews from the Plainville Fire Department were called out at 6:30 a.m. for a house fire on Maria Road.
Heavy fire engulfed the home, requiring assistance from Bristol and Farmington fire departments.
Residents who were in the home were able to get out, WFSB.com reported.
“During that event, the firefighting operations, a firefighter was injured,” a town official said during a press conference.
The firefighte rwas rushed to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain where he passed away.
The residents were uninjured.
The Connecticut State Police are investigating the fire.
