The deputy fire chief of Caddo Parish Fire District 1, who died after suffering a cardiac-related issue following a recent training session, will receive a final salute today.
Deputy Chief Scott Durfee, 54, died March 2 at Ochsner Health, according to the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association
On Feb. 27, Durfee suffered a heart attack after a training drill at his station
"Deputy Chief Durfee joined the department in 2000 and faithfully served his community for more than two decades, eventually rising through the ranks to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Throughout his career, he was known not only for his leadership, but also for his character, faith, and dedication to those around him. To many in the fire service, he was more than a colleague — he was a mentor, a trusted leader, and a brother," LFCA officials wrote in a statement.
Visitation is set for today from 9-11 a.m. at the Pentecostals of Bossier City Church where the funeral service will follow.
He will be escorted to Hillcrest Cemetery in Haughton.
