Baltimore County fire officials are investigating a house explosion that occurred early Tuesday morning in Rosedale.
The blast was reported just after 2 a.m. in the 8100 block of Callo Lane, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department. It remains unclear whether anyone was inside the home at the time of the explosion or if there were any injuries.
The fire was brought under control by 2:59 a.m., fire officials said.
“I would like to thank for neighbors for all their help, and they believe the occupants are out of town, but I can’t confirm that at this time,” Baltimore County Fire Chief Joseph Dixon said at the scene.
Dixon said the fire department was waiting for special equipment to arrive to thoroughly investigate the scene. There was one vehicle in the driveway.
There was “minimal” damage to a neighbor’s home, according to Dixon, who did not offer a timeline for the investigation.
Baltimore Gas and Electric and fire investigators have been called to the scene to determine the cause of the incident.
“This is out of the ordinary, but our obligation is to all of the citizens, all of the neighbors to make sure they are safe,” Dixon said. “Please allow us to do our job.”
