Photos: Dozens of Patients Evacuated from Lehigh Valley, PA, Hospital as Attached Structure Burns
Dozens of patients were evacuated when a fire broke out in an orthopedic building attached to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Lackawanna County.
EMS crews from Dickson City and multiple jurisdictions evacuated 77 patients, including six ICU patients, and transported them to other hospitals. No civilians were injured.
A firefighter who suffered chest pains was transported to a hospital for treatment, WTAE reported.
Crews dispatched to Scranton Orthopedics for a roof fire managed to keep the flames from spreading to the hospital, a sprinklered facility built a few years ago.
The cause is under investigation.
