Nashville, TN, Parking Garage Partially Collapses During Fire

Hotel guests and others reported hearing explosions coming from the downtown Nashville parking deck.

The sounds of explosions, a fire and a partial structure collapse.

Nashville firefighters faced all of it early Tuesday at a parking garage near a library.

District Chief Martin Hampton told WKRN that firefighters found multiple vehicles on fire on the fourth and fifth floors of the deck.

Among the vehicles destroyed were street sweepers, ATVs owned by the city.

A nearby hotel was evacuated as smoke penetrated the building. No injuries were reported.

Explosions can be heard in footage taken by hotel guests.

Authorities said the ramp from the third to fourth floor collapsed on top of vehicles, and the fifth floor of the parking deck fell onto the fourth floor.
