KALAMAZOO, MI — Firefighters worked late into the night Monday, March 9 to contain a recycling company fire.

The fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. at Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers, 1525 King Highway.

Heavy smoke could be seen from far away.

Authorities said the fire was contained to an exterior pile of material.

By about 10:30 p.m., the fire was 50 percent contained and firefighters said it likely would take several hours to put out hot spots.
