It's been a busy week for firefighters in Dickey County, N.D.
Dickey County Sheriff Jim Bohannon said three grass fires have occurred in the county since Monday. None resulted in injuries.
The first happened Monday at about 1:20 p.m. two miles north and four miles east of Monango. Bohannon said the fire started when burning garbage got out of control.
The Edgely Fire Department and Dickey County Sheriff's Office responded. A chicken coop burned down.
The second blaze was reported less than an hour later at 2:10 p.m. Bohannon said the fire started from a controlled burn five miles north of Ellendale.
"It went through a field, jumped a fence and then went into another field," Bohannon said.
The Dickey County Sheriff's Office and Ellendale, Edgely and Fullerton fire departments all responded.
Bohannon said it took about three hours to extinguish the fire.
The third fire occurred on Tuesday about six miles west and three miles north of Ellendale. The fire started from tree limbs which were burning in a pit. It was reported around 4:40 p.m.
Bohannon said the Dickey County Sheriff's Office and Ellendale Fire Department responded.
It's unclear exactly how much acreage burned during the three fires.
