A small plane crashed on a Maryland highway Thursday, hitting a car and injuring four people.
The crash happened before 11:30 a.m. along Route 50 near Bowie's Freeway Airport, Prince George's County Fire said in an online statement. As it came down, the aircraft struck a car on the roadway.
The four people who were hurt were in the car, and they suffered minor injuries, the Capital Gazette report. None of the people were entrapped, the fire department added.
The crash also shut down Route 50 to one lane each in either direction, according to the Gazette. By noon, traffic was backed up about 2 miles in both directions.
