Dec. 8, 2019
Fireboats were called as flames ripped through two Old Saybrook homes Friday evening.

OLD SAYBROOK — Firefighters in Old Saybrook brought in multiple fire departments through mutual aid for a multi-house fire Friday.

The flames broke out on Beach Road West around 4 p.m. The area, officials said, was the location of two separate home three-house wind fires years ago.

By 5 p.m., officials with the Old Saybrook Fire Department said its firefighters were continuing to extinguish the flames. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

Photos and videos from the scene showed homes completely engulfed in flames as firefighters worked. By around 7:20 p.m., fire crews said two homes were destroyed by the fire and two others damaged.

Crews operated boats along the beachfront homes to help extinguish the blaze.

There was no immediate cause of the fire given by officials.
