Five NY Firefighters Hospitalized Battling Blaze

Firefighters from two departments were injured while working to extinguish a structure fire in Middlefield late Wednesday.

Five firefighters from two departments were injured battling a structure blaze in Middlefield, NY, late Wednesday.

Five firefighters were brought to the hospital following a structure fire Wednesday night in Middlefield, according to Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr.

The firefighters were from two different departments that responded to the fire on Route 35 in Middlefield and were brought to Bassett Hospital, he said.

Otsego County Emergency Services Coordinator Arthur R. Klingler Jr. was not available this morning to comment, though his office said he would issue a statement this afternoon.
