FF Injured in NJ Blaze that Caused Explosions, Roof Collapse

Crews responded to a large fire that broke out at a truck repair shop in Elizabeth that set off explosions and a roof collapse late Sunday.

One firefighter was hurt in large late-night fire at a truck repair facility in Elizabeth that triggered explosions and a roof collapse.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. Sunday at Elizabeth Truck Center on North Avenue East, according to WABC-7.

No one was inside when the blaze erupted, though gasoline and diesel run off from several vehicles inside led to several small explosions, according to News 12 New Jersey.

Flames and smoke could be seen several miles away.

The cause of the fire is under investigation as firefighters check for hot spots early Monday.

Elizabeth officials couldn’t be immediately reached for additional information.
