Four women were killed and another was injured Tuesday night after a space heater ignited a three-alarm fire in a Bronx apartment building.

Four women were killed and a fifth woman was injured Tuesday night after a fire broke out at an apartment building in the Bronx.

ABC New York reports that FDNY crews were called to the three-alarm blaze at the building along the Grand Concourse around 7:25 p.m., which began in a sixth floor unit before spreading to another apartment and then through the roof.

Authorities, who believe the fire was ignited by a malfunction in a space heater, say all the women who were pronounced dead were older, longtime residents of the building.
