KY Firefighter Critical After Being Struck by Vehicle

Marrowbone volunteer firefighter Jimmy Belcher was moving a tree out of the road during a call when he was struck by a vehicle late Sunday.

A Kentucky firefighter is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle while on a call late Sunday.

Marrowbone volunteer firefighter Jimmy Belcher was moving a tree out of the road during a call when a vehicle struck him, Chief Cindar Adkins stated in an online update. Belcher was taken to Pikeville Medical Center in critical condition.

"I’m asking everyone to please prayer for one of our members same as a son to me Jimmy Belcher unit 555 was responding to a call and was moving a tree out of the road and was hit by a vehicle and is in critical condition," Adkins said. "Please put him on every prayer line that you can."

Strong storms had swept through Pike County, knocking down trees and causing damage throughout the area, Mountain Top News reports.
