Cleveland Firefighters Pull Mom, Child from Third-Story Blaze

The apartment fire on Cleveland's east side injured seven people, including a firefighter, as well as a mother and child, who were brought to the hospital in critical condition.

Cleveland firefighters rescued a mother and child from a burning third-story apartment on the city's east side early Thursday.

CLEVELAND—A mother and baby in critical condition are among seven people hurt in a fire early Thursday at an apartment building on Cleveland’s East Side.

A Cleveland firefighter who suffered a burn on his arm was also among those hurt in the fire on East 143rd Street north of Kinsman Road, the fire department said in a statement posted to social media.

Firefighters pulled the mother and baby, whose exact age was not released, from an apartment on the third floor, the fire department said.

No other details were immediately released Thursday morning.
