DC Firefighters Pull Residents from Balconies in 2-Alarm Blaze

Two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition as crews prevented flames from a Washington, D.C., apartment fire from spreading to other units in the building.

Multiple residents were rescued from a two-alarm apartment blaze by Washington, D.C., firefighters Friday night.

Crews responded to the fire at an apartment building in the 2000 block of 15th Street NW at around 8:30 p.m., WUSA-TV reports. Firefighters were able to pull occupants from off their balconies while stopping flames from spreading to other units in the building.

Two people were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
