Aug. 6, 2020
A hazardous materials team was called in after at least four Paterson firefighters were injured while battling a blaze that broke out at an apparent illegal drug operation.

At least four firefighters were injured in a fire in Passaic County that morphed into a drug raid, after a drug mill was discovered while firefighters battled the blaze, according to officials and reports.

On Thursday, an early morning fire in Paterson on Illinois Avenue left at least four firefighters injured, reported CBS New York. But the fire itself exposed a drug mill, confirmed Jerry Speziale, the city’s public safety director.

No other information was immediately available, including the condition of the firefighters and if any arrests were made.
