Video: MD Firefighter Suffers Burns in Residential Blaze

Prince George's County firefighters battled blazes that broke out twice in less than 12 hours at a two-story, single-family home in Capitol Heights.

A Maryland firefighter was injured early Sunday when crews responded to a house that had caught fire twice in less than 12 hours.

The initial blaze broke out at 11:35 p.m. at a two-story, single-family home in Capitol Heights, the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department stated in an online update. The fire was showing on the side of the house, and crews were able to control the blaze quickly.

Firefighters returned to the home shortly after 8:30 a.m. When they arrived a second time, flames were spreading through two floors of the house.

A firefighter suffered minor burns in the second blaze. The first responder was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Both fires are under investigation, according to the department.
