IL Firefighter Injured in Fall During Residential Blaze

Two residents also suffered injuries as Rock Island firefighters battled a blaze that broke out on the front porch of a duplex and spread to the outside of the second floor.

An Illinois firefighter was among three people injured during a residential blaze early Monday.

Rock Island crews responded to a fire that broke out at a duplex shortly after 2 a.m., WHBF-TV reports. Officials believe the blaze started on the front porch, and flames spread to the outside of the second floor.

A firefighter suffered minor injuries after a fall through a hole in the floor of the duplex. Two residents also were taken to the hospital, but their conditions were not known, WHBF added.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
