CA Firefighters Face 4-Alarm Commercial Fire

The massive blaze erupted at a San Jose roofing business, sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air and brought down power lines.

SAN JOSE, CA—A heavy fire at a roofing business in central San Jose was sending a thick black plume of smoke into the air Friday morning, according to fire officials and witnesses.

The four-alarm blaze was reported at 10:25 a.m. at Statewide Roofing, in an industrial area in the 1600 block of South Seventh Street, between Phelan and Alma avenues.

No injuries have been reported, according to the San Jose Fire Department and witnesses on scene. Occupants evacuated the adjacent businesses.

PG&E technicians were also called to tend to downed power lines. Seventh Street between Phelan and Alma was shut to clear access for emergency vehicles.
