VA Firefighter Injured in Fall During Commercial Fire

An Henrico County firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after falling from a bay door while battling a warehouse fire in Henrico.

A Virginia firefighter was injured in a fall while battling a commercial fire late Thursday.

The fire broke out shortly before 10:30 p.m. at a Henrico warehouse, according to the Henrico County Division of Fire. The building was evacuated after the automatic sprinkler system activated, and crews were able to quickly locate the source of the flames despite a lack of visibility.

One firefighter fell from a bay door while battling the fire and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Crews were able to get the flames under control just before 11 p.m. Chesterfield Fire Department sent a specialized fire unit to help with smoke removal.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
