Three Children among Four Dead in VA House Fire

Several people were seriously injured and four people were rescued from a second-story window during a three-alarm residential fire in Chesterfield.

Four people, including three children, died and several people were seriously injured in a three-alarm house fire early Friday.

The fire broke out just after midnight at home in Chesterfield, WRIC-TV reports. When crews reached the scene, they encountered heavy flames coming from a first-story window, and the fire was raised to three alarms after neighbors told firefighters that people were still trapped inside.

Four people were rescued from a second-story window, WWBT-TV reports. A person found at the fire's original location was pronounced dead at the scene, according WRIC.

Eight people were taken to the hospital, where three were later pronounced dead, according to WWBT. Several people were in critical condition, WRIC added.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
