IL Firefighters Rescue Four from Burning House

Four people were taken to the hospital in critical condition after Champaign firefighters pulled them from a fire that broke out at a two-story home.

Illinois firefighters rescued four people from a burning house Thursday.

The fire broke out just after 9 a.m. at a two-story home in Champaign, the fire department stated in an online update. Smoke and flames were coming from the rear and side of the house as crews arrived, and firefighters deployed multiple hoselines before entering the residence to search for people trapped inside.

Four occupants were discovered in the house, and firefighters were able to pull them out. The people were taken to the hospital in critical condition, and no firefighters were injured battling the fire.

Crews were able to put out the flames shortly before 9:45 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
