FDNY Firefighters Tackle Fatal Townhouse Fire

May 19, 2021
More than 100 firefighters worked for around an hour to put out a fire that erupted at a four-story townhouse in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.

A fast-moving fire tore through a Brooklyn townhouse early Wednesday, killing a resident, officials said.

The blaze erupted inside the home on Pulaski St. near Nostrand Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant about 6:20 a.m., FDNY officials said.

A building resident was found dead inside the building once the fire was put out, officials said. The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Video from the Citizen app shows smoke pouring from the top two floors of the four-story building.

More than 100 firefighters were called in to combat the blaze, which was extinguished within an hour.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
