June 22, 2021
A Contra Costa County firefighter suffered burns battling a two-alarm fire that tore through a Pleasant Hills home before spreading to a nearby residence.

PLEASANT HILL, CA—A two-alarm fire destroyed two homes Monday afternoon in Pleasant Hill, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 3:11 p.m. on the 100 block of Lorenzo Drive, just west of Interstate 680.

In a series of tweets, the Contra Costa County Fire Department said crews arrived to find one home and a garage "fully involved." The flames then spread to a second home.

The blaze was knocked down by 4:30 p.m.

The fire department said both homes collapsed, which was delaying searches and mop up of the fires.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital with burns, the fire department said. There were no immediate reports of other injuries.

An investigator was at the scene of the fire, the cause of which has not yet been announced.
