One firefighter was injured and five residents displaced after a two-alarm fire destroyed a South San Jose home Thursday morning, authorities said.
At about 9:45 a.m., the San Jose Fire Department was called to the 7100 block of Brooktree Court near Almaden Expressway for a report of a possible electrical fire at a two-story single-family home, said spokesperson Erica Ray.
Over the next two hours, more than 60 firefighters fought to bring the flames under control. One firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, Ray said. An update on the firefighter’s condition was not immediately available.
Five adults and one dog were safely evacuated and uninjured. As the home was severely damaged in the blaze, the Red Cross will help the displaced residents, Ray said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. As of noon, crews remained on scene to mop up.
