One firefighter was injured and at least 30 people displaced by a Bethlehem apartment complex fire that sent flames shooting through the building’s roof.
One Bethlehem firefighter was taken to a local hospital following the three-alarm blaze Monday night at 1440 Johnston Drive, according to the Bethlehem Firefighters IAFF Local 735 union.
The building is part of the Sherwood Town and Country Apartments complex off Linden Street, across from Azar Supermarket.
Eight apartments were affected by the fire, said Peter Brown, executive director of the Pennsylvania Rivers chapter of the American Red Cross. The chapter covers the Lehigh Valley.
Brown did not know how many of the affected residents were adults and children, but said the agency was deploying additional volunteers and would have an update later Tuesday.
