Firefighters in Oregon's largest city could be busy for days after a massive fire tore through an abandoned warehouse early Friday morning.
KPTV reports that the blaze erupted around 12:30 am and that Portland Fire & Rescue crews encountered heavy smoke and fire upon arrival, striking a fourth alarm almost immediately to bring in additional resources.
The fire was burning in both the attic and basement areas of the building, and firefighters were unable to reach all the flames as they employed a defensive attack to limit damage and any extensions to the surrounding structures after searching for any victims amid almost zero visibility.
Reports said it may take days for crews to fully stamp out any hot spots.
