MA Firefighters Called to Douse Fire During Police Incident

What started as a police call for an individual in crisis in Worcester turned into a building fire that displaced nine people.

A call for a man in crisis lead to a fire in a triple-decker after the man allegedly lit his home on fire after attacking police with scissors outside his residence.

After the conflict with police the man entered his home, barricaded himself inside, and then started a fire according to NBC10 Boston.

Firefighters and police worked to remove the occupants from the structure along with the individual who started the fire, who would not comply with responders.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and police were able to convince man to exit the building. He was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The suspect is facing multiple charges, officials said.
