Former VA Governor’s Mansion Consumed by Fire

Two people were injured in a fire that consumed a McLean mansion owned by former Virginia Gov. Charles Robb.

Fairfax County firefighters were called to the 600 block of Chain Bridge Road in McLean around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, for a structure fire in a home owned by former Senator and Virginia Governor Charles Robb.

When firefighters arrived, fire had already consumed the first floor prompting crews to call for a second alarm, according to a Facebook post by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Firefighters from, Arlington, Fairfax and Montgomery counties worked through the night to control the massive blaze that leveled the home.

According to WJLA, Robb and his wife, the daughter of former U.S President Lyndon Johnson, purchased the mansion overlooking the Potomac River in the ’70s The home has an estimated value of $3.4 million.

Robb served as Virginia’s governor from 1982 to 1986 and U.S. senator from 1989 to 2001.
