A neighbor uses an extinguisher to push back flames to enable the rescue of an elderly resident from the Charlotte apartment fire.
Neighbors rescued an elderly resident from heavy fire conditions Tuesday evening in Charlotte.
When a second grader noticed smoke coming from the neighbor’s apartment on the 5100 block of Brooktree Drive, they notified their parents.
Armed with a fire extinguisher, the the child’s father and other neighbors sprung to action and entered the burning apartment and rescued the resident, according to a Tweet by the Charlotte Fire Department.
A rescuer and the occupant were evaluated on scene by Mecklenburg EMS and released.
Fire officials said the fire was brought under control in 10 minutes.
