New Orleans Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Wharf Fire
The New Orleans Fire Department battled a two-alarm wharf fire along the Mississippi River Monday night in Algiers.
Firefighters responded to a possible boat fire near the 3700 block of Patterson Drive, and upon arrival a large portion of the wharf was already involved in fire, according to WDSU 6 News.
Firefighters deployed hoselines across the Mississippi levee to control the fire and requested The Port of New Orleans’ Fireboat General Kelley to battle the blaze.
The fire department said 55 firefighters from 18 units were brought in to battle the stubborn blaze.
In October, New Orleans firefighters battled a massive, wind-fueled fire on the former Market Street Wharf.
