Firefighters Battle MD Townhouse Fire

Montgomery County firefighters battled a townhouse fire early Wednesday morning with a report of people trapped.

Firefighters in Montgomery County responded to a townhouse fire early Wednesday morning with a report of possible people trapped in Gaithersburg.

Crews arrived to heavy fire conditions in a multi-story townhome and were able to get the bulk of the fire knocked down quickly, according to a tweet by Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer.

The fire on 300 block of West Deer Park Road was upgraded to a second alarm to bring in additional firefighters to battle the blaze.

Crews conducted searches and evacuated neighboring units as they continued to extinguish hot spots.
