Baltimore firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in a 7-story vacant building that used to house a brewery.
Baltimore firefighters battled fire in a seven-story vacant building that rose to three-alarms Thursday morning in the city’s Shipley Hill neighborhood.
Crews arrived to heavy fire and smoke condition and set up for exterior operations using multiple handlines and aerials to battle the blaze, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Firefighters had to tap into multiple hydrants to supply water for the firefight.
Officials said more than 60 firefighters were at the scene and brought the fire under control in about four hours.
The building was once the home of Eigenbrot Brewery, which opened in the 1860s. The brewery closed in the 1920s and since then, it's housed other businesses, according to Baltimore Heritage.
The fire was less than a mile from the January rowhome where three firefighters were killed and one was seriously injured.
