An early morning four-alarm fire in New Orleans tore through a two-story structure and damaged 2 dwellings leaving close to a dozen people homeless.
Firefighters were called to a reported fire with the possibility of people trapped around 5:30 a.m., Wednesday morning.
Crews arrived to heavy fire conditions from the rear of a two-story structure and conducted searches to ensure all occupants had escaped, according to a New Orleans Fire Department press release.
The fire was immediately upgraded to a second and third alarm upon arrival due to heavy fire conditions.
Within fifteen minutes, a fourth alarm was requested when fire broke through the roof sending large embers to two nearby structures catching them on fire.
The fire department deployed twenty-three units carrying sixty-eight fire operations personnel to battle the fire.
