Close to a dozen residents were rescued by Indianapolis firefighters and around fifty people were evacuated from an early morning apartment fire in Indianapolis.
The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m., at the El Dorado apartments when a fire started in a second-floor apartment and quickly spread smoke throughout the building.
A woman who rents the apartment told firefighters she was awoken by the sound of her portable fans turning off turning off in her bedroom and said she’s been having electrical issues in her apartment, WISHTV.com reported.
Fire officials said the woman noticed fire in the bedroom and grabbed her family and left pulling the alarm on her way out to notify neighbors.
The fire department said one resident was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with possible smoke inhalation, but no one was seriously injured.
