Neighbors said all three floors of the massive Newton home were on fire before firefighters arrived. The fire reached four alarms.

A fire engulfed a 5,000-square-foot home in Newton, causing it to completely collapse Friday night, news outlets reported.

Firefighters arrived at the scene of the four-alarm blaze at the house on Gray Cliff Road around 10:30 p.m, WCVB reported. Neighbors did not notice the fire until it had spread to the three floors of the home, according to WHDH.

A large part of the home collapsed roughly 45 minutes after firefighters arrived, according to WCVB. The detached garage was eventually the only building left standing after the rest of the house gave way, WHDH reported.

Nobody was inside the house at the time of the fire. The owners were away on vacation, WHDH reported.
