New Orleans firefighters worked nearly two hours to contain a fire that destroyed two homes early Tuesday.
Crews arrived at 2:35 a.m. to find heavy fire conditions in an unoccupied home at 1735 First Street that was extending to neighboring homes and called a second alarm.
Firefighters began searching the adjacent homes for occupants as they put first water on the fire, the fire department stated.
A third alarm was called at 2:30 a.m. as flames began to consume one of the exposure homes.
Crews battled the fire with aerial master streams and hoselines until it was placed under control at 4:16 a.m.
Officials said two homes suffered extensive damage and that no injuries were reported.
A total of 69 fire personnel responded to the scene.
