TX Firefighter Electrified Battling Mobile Home Fire

Dec. 12, 2022
The Cypress Fairbanks Fire Department firefighter was originally reported to have been electrocuted (which means death by electricity), but he was electrified (shocked).

Dec. 12—A firefighter was electrified Sunday evening while battling a blaze at a mobile home near the Katy Country Estates subdivision, officials said.

The Cypress Fairbanks Fire Department around 6 p.m. Sunday responded to a report of a fire on Saddlewood Drive and found a mobile home that had been engulfed in flames, officials told On Scene reporters.

First responders managed to get everyone out of the home without injuries but a firefighter was electrified, meaning he was shocked with electricity but he survived, so the term "electrocution" does not apply.

The firefighter was transported to a hospital where his condition was stabilized.

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the cause of the fire.
