Firefighters from Sandy Station #72 got a quick hit on a fire at a business Wednesday.
The fast knock was due to two crews being assigned to the station, Clackamas fire officials said in a release.
The response included 17 firefighters, two battalion chiefs, a rehab member and a fire investigator.
In 2019, Sandy Fire officials realized that they could not adequately continue to serve the community has it had. After several options were considered, they decided to reach out to their closes neighbor, Clackamas Fire District.
In 2021, the two agencies agreed to joint 24-hour staffing at Clackamas Fire District’s Station 18 in Eagle Creek, which was previously staffed part-time.
Through this contract for service, Sandy Fire’s employees and volunteers have joined with Clackamas Fire District to serve the community together, officials noted.
It's been a win-win for everyone.
