Hillsborough firefighters fought a raging fire that consumed a Brandon condominium building on Sunday.

About 5 p.m., 911 callers reported a large fire seen through the roof of a two-story building on Red Maple Place in The Hamptons at Brandon Condominiums complex, according to a news release from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The department described it as a 3-alarm fire, meaning that many fire stations were alerted to the blaze, and 28 units responded.

Firefighters called a second alarm after seeing a large column of black smoke from a distance, according to the release.

Crews were met with heavy fire on the roof of one building that was spreading through the attic to other attached condo units. After the third alarm was issued, firefighters set up aerial operations to battle the blaze from above and had the fire under control in less than an hour.

No one was found inside the building and there were no reported injuries.

Hillsborough County’s fire investigator was working to determine what caused the blaze.

The Hamptons, 609 Golden Raintree Place, features condo units for sale and for rent, according to the community’s website.
