Dozens of New York firefighters dealt with frozen hoses and ladders as they worked in shifts Monday to extinguish a three-alarm fire at a $3 million mansion.

The blaze broke out at about 1 a.m. at a home in Scarsdale, WLNY-TV reports. Crews responding to the fire have been fighting extreme cold that has frozen equipment and could lead to hypothermia.

Authorities told the TV station that the people inside the house escaped the fire. Three firefighters battling the blaze have been hospitalized as a precaution.
