MS Firefighter Burned Pulling Man from Fire

A Clinton firefighter suffered second- and third-degree burns saving a man from a home fire. "You can’t stop (when) there is somebody in there," said firefighter Chase Chappell.

A Mississippi firefighter was burned while helping to rescue a 59-year-old man from his burning home.

Clinton firefighter Chase Chappell and Capt. Jay Barlow pulled the man out his house after his kitchen caught fire Monday night, WAPT-TV reports. Chappell suffered second- and third-degree burns on his back and shoulders.

"It felt worse than I have ever felt," he told the TV station. "You can’t stop (when) there is somebody in there."

The man Chappell and Barlow saved is recovering in an area burn unit.
