While battling a large warehouse fire Sunday, Indiana firefighters spotted two raccoons stuck on the building's roof.

The question: How to save these trash pandas in fiery peril?

Two South Bend firefighters devised an ingenious raccoon rescue plan by hooking two ladders together, WSBT-TV reports. But if you build a fire escape for raccoons, will they use it?

Yes. Yes, they will.

Thankfully, these raccoons were able to flee their predicament by climbing down the ladders in an orderly fashion. They could've decided to exit the warehouse the same way their Ocean City, NJ, brother escaped from a high-rise last year.

Firefighters: a raccoon's best friend.
